ILPOkids: a soft world for playful kids!

Today with the new ILPOKIDS line we have broadened our range of products with items for private and public uses for children. The furnishing elements and accessories manufactured with different grades of hardness according to the type of object and its final use are characterized by:

• unconventional shapes and dimensions;
• special needs in terms of foam hardness, touch feeling and grip;
• a very wide range of colors and shades, which makes them perfect for applications for children;
• a temporary outside use.

The main and most relevant characteristic of all the elements of the new line is their surface finishing. In fact ILPO is now utilizing a new patented technology specifically developed under the trademark ILPOKOTING, that allows for the production of a colored fully water-based elastomeric coating, offering a unique texture very pleasant to the touch, with a “rubbery” feel providing a combination of toughness and softness, elasticity and hardness, grip and feel that makes it particularly suitable for applications and set-ups of public spaces and schools for early childhood. The technology is based on a specific painting process using a water dispersion of resins, with excellent properties of elasticity and of resistance against yellowing perfectly suited for the creation of an extremely wide variety of colors and shades.

Environmental protection, health and safety

The products of the ILPOKIDS line are water painted based on the ILPOKOTING technology granting a very limited environmental impact. The utilized technology produces an external coating on the items based on a system developed using fully water-based raw-materials and components, thus providing for a reduction of the emissions equal to approximately 90 - 95 % compared with traditional solvent-based systems. The application of the coating is obtained through a process that permits for a careful finishing and an high quality level of the final item. The color coating passes the dry rubbing test according to EN ISO 11640:1998 for color consistency and coating durability and it is very easy to clean using water, mild soap and a wet cloth. As the system used to coat the final products is free from hazardous or toxic substances, it complies with the European EN 71,3 regulation, related to painted toys that can, occasionally, get in touch with the children’s mouth. Furthermore products of the ILPOKIDS line can eventually be supplied with different grades of reaction to fire according to BS EN 1021-1:2006 (cigarette) and BS EN 5852:1979 Part 1 Schedule 4-Part 1.
